This is committed & industrious work but can't help but notice that DCMS isn't mentioned. My hunch is that the ongoing copyright battle - when it comes back - will switch to rightsholders over tech, because music & creativity are what DCMS Ministers & Burnham care about most.

It will survive, sure — but the sector needs the state to flourish. All great techs of the 20th century — from nuclear to the web — involved an effective partnership with the state (regulation, financial support, strategic protectionism etc.). With AI, more true than ever.

David Sedaris thinks that if we just lived for the plot, we'd have material to write anything. He explains:

Really excellent detail in this on the AI economy from @azeem and team.

- AI revenues are growing at 3x the pace of previous tech shifts ( internet etc ) and accelerating
- Demand vastly outstrips supply of compute
- It will be a while until full numbers show up in GDP, but the local impact is clear ( incredible wages to be a datacenter electrician in Texas! ).
- We’re still in the earliest days of this technology. Lots still to win / to do to get it right.
