The Kenya Space Agency has announced that today, the Cygnus NG-24 mission will launch aboard a Falcon 9 to the International Space Station—carrying the Climate Camera (ClimCam), an Earth observation payload with direct relevance to Kenya.

ClimCam is expected to deliver high-resolution imagery alongside frequent orbital coverage over Eastern Africa. This capability will support critical applications including flood monitoring, drought assessment, agricultural planning, and environmental management.

The data generated will directly contribute to Kenya’s national development priorities, particularly in strengthening climate resilience, improving disaster response and enhancing sustainable resource management.
