On this day in 1755, French painter Elisabeth Vigee-Lebrun was born. Her most well-known works are of Marie Antoinette whom she painted on many occasions and developed a close friendship with.

On this day in 1922, the Supreme Court held that women do have the right to vote. That idea was challenged by Maryland’s Board of Registry who wanted to remove women from the voter registry. The Supreme Court unanimously ruled in favor of women voters, it’s a constitutional right
