Pape Thiaw saw how devastating a forward line of Sarr, Mbaye & Ndiaye were in Senegal’s final but crucial group game, but he decided to bring Mane back in.

Senegal go 2-0 with Diarra being key in opening up spaces in the Belgian defense and also key in nullifying Trossard and Tielemans. He subs off Diarra who was not showing any signs of fatigue nor did he have a yellow card.

He then decided to sub off Ndiaye instead of Mane who was a horror show from the second half hydration break until he was subbed off in extra time. This meant the burden of the attack was once again put on the shoulders of 18 year old Mbaye while Mane was taking the piss.

The most egregious thing he did was to sit back and soak up pressure after his team was 2 goals up.
