The amount of anti-science nonsense I have seen about the Texas flooding from the left and the right in the last 36 hours is giving me a headache.

No, it was not driven by climate change (river floods have actually decreased in frequency and magnitude there).

No, the deaths of the campers were not caused by the “bad orange man.”

No, the rainfall, associated flooding and stalled MCV was not caused by weather modification (i.e., cloud seeding).

Sometimes, a combination of rare synoptic and mesoscale features come together to produce a low-probability event like we just saw. Everything looks like a conspiracy when you don’t know how anything works.
