The Ontario Court of Appeal seems to be getting bonus cases right these days. If you normally earned a bonus that was "integral" to your income, it requires very specific contract language to deprive you of it as part of your severance: https://t.co/UT0W2PmjM7. #employmentlaw
For those interested, check out my interview on #CBC Ontario Morning from January 31, 2018, regarding the impact of the #MeToo movement for Ontario workplaces: https://t.co/JMN7Ll0hK8.

Interesting/different perspective on the #PatrickBrown matter from #christieblatchford: https://t.co/3xOmZ5b5IO. This echoes the sentiments I hear so often from clients accused of wrongdoing by their employer or a colleague. There are 2+ sides to every story, after all.
Perhaps #Rogers employees like those interviewed in https://t.co/D8qqvb5JFt should speak to an #employment lawyer about whether they have been constructively dismissed... assuming they can prove these high pressure sales tactics actually happen. Court cases are public, after all.
Lots of people talking about #TimHortons. It bears noting that almost all Tim Horton's shops are run by individual small business owners, who aside from pricing, mostly make their own business decisions. Remember that before you castigate them all for the actions of a few.
Interesting discussion today - will the #MeToo movement lead to a surge in sexual harassment cases -- or reduce them? On one hand, women may feel "safer" bringing these cases. On the other hand, predatory men might start, y'know, behaving better. Or is that wishful thinking?
Bad news for #employees fired after the sale of a business: https://t.co/IUKNkMAdwJ. This decision means that if you signed a contract in conjunction with the sale, your severance may be severely limited because of it... even if you would have lost your job if you hadn't signed!
