As it's the #Midterms2022 I have decided to link the US election to the Weimar Constitution with y11. Hopefully, I can retrieve some knowledge and we can discuss how the US system is very different #edutwitter
For debate club, I've set it up in a court format: team prosecution and team defence. The first week back we're debating if a PM should still be PM even if they break the law. Already feel sorry for team defence!
Another brilliant idea from @mrfitzhist that I have adapted!
Currently teaching the arms race (pre-WW1) to y10 and I made a starter about the Anglo-German rivalry. Essentially, each bomb represents a reason why conflict existed between each country and pupils have to explain why that reason led to conflict. Excited to try next week.
Stole @mrfitzhist ingenious idea of contributing contexts and used it for a y7 lesson on how treatments to the Black Death have improved. Worked very well!
Inspired by the brilliant @SPBeale, I made a task that gets students to understand the impact of the great depression in America and beyond. Hopefully, should prepare the y9s nicely for y10 and beyond.
A lot of people are loving this visual that shows the impact of "timing the name" when Cold Calling. I agree that it's great and just want to make sure it's clear that the credit goes to @geotayler. I loved it too & my role was merely to riff on it (a little) in a blog post!
Just completed a knowledge organiser for AQA Germany 1890-1945. Managed to condense the 90 page textbook into 6 pages so it should prove to be a good revision aid for students.
Adapted from the brilliant @mrfitzhist, I made my y10 students improve a 16m response from Health and the People AQA. Worked really well to enable pupils to think about what specific evidence is and how they could develop their explanations.
Used @mrfitzhist brilliant knowledge tree today to challenge my class about the positives/ negatives of the Industrial Revolution. I then got them to think how the Industrial Revolution had allowed certain factors to change over time.
@mrwmhistory@MrThorntonTeach Hi Dan this is amazing just come across it looking for ideas to plan a unit on America. Was wondering, if you did not mind, would it be possible to have a copy of this? Would be insanely grateful! Thanks
Made a little knowledge organiser for y10. Trying to condense a whole course into 6 pages to try and get students to understand what the key, non-negotiable content is. Hopefully, it'll help with retrieval too as I want to constantly refer to back to it.
