During the pandemic, Orit met De La Salle University professor Laureen Velasco, founder of an on-campus animal welfare group, who continues to support him with relief goods, basic appliances, and financial assistance, and provides his pets with veterinary care and dog food.
Recently, a good Samaritan donated a customized pedicab to replace Oritโs worn-out 14-year-old sidecar. | via @danieldjacob
Carlos Orit, 67, tends to his six rescue dogs inside a pedicab that also serves as his home along Taft Avenue in Manila.
Homeless since age 10, Orit earns a living by selling scrap and feeds his dog with leftovers from restaurants.
He says the animals symbolize life for him, recalling how he recovered from illness after one of his dogs passed away. | via @danieldjacob
