38-Year-Old Islamic Teacher Remanded Over Alleged Defilement of Two Minors During Quranic Classes

An Islamic scholar in Adamawa State, 38-year-old Sagir Sani, has been accused of def+ling two female students aged 8 and 9.

Sani, who teaches at an Islamic school in Numan Local Government Area, allegedly took the two girls behind the school’s classrooms, where he reportedly sexually assaulted them.

According to the prosecuting police officer, ASP Zakka Musa, the teacher allegedly lured the victims to the secluded area before committing the offences.

Sani was subsequently arraigned before Chief Magistrate’s Court I in Yola on charges including indecent treatment, sexual assault and defilement. The court ordered that he be remanded over the allegations.

The police prosecutor informed the court on Monday that the mother of one of the alleged victims reported the incident at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Numan on August 7, 2026.

According to the prosecutor, the woman alleged that the defendant, 38-year-old Sagir Sani, defiled the two girls while they were attending Quranic recitation classes.

When the charges were read and explained to Sani during his arraignment, he pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

Following his plea, the prosecuting police officer requested an adjournment to allow the prosecution to forward the case diary to the state Department of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

The court granted the application and ordered that Sani be remanded pending further proceedings.

BREAKING: Police officers allegedly arrived in Ibadan from Ilorin this morning to arrest Tani Olohun over alleged abuse of the Islamic religion.

The MTN/IHS deal is a good example of why signing an acquisition agreement does not always mean you get the deal exactly as negotiated.

MTN wants to acquire IHS in a transaction valued at about $6.2 billion. The FCCPC has given conditional approval, but with an important requirement… MTN must sell down up to 30% of the Nigerian component of the IHS business to local investors, at market prices over time.

So why would the regulator care?

IHS owns telecom infrastructure used by several operators. MTN is itself a major telecom operator. If MTN takes control of IHS, an obvious question is whether that could affect other operators that also rely on IHS infrastructure.

That is merger control in practical terms.

You can agree the price, convince the seller and even get shareholder approval, but the regulator can still say “The deal can go ahead, but subject to certain conditions.”

For anyone doing M&A, regulatory approval should therefore never be treated as something to sort out after the “real deal” is done.

It is part of the deal itself.

While peeling yam this morning, one traumatic memory flashed through my mind.

I never knew peeling yam requires an exceptional skill till I visited my mum's relative during the long term holiday.

This woman gave me a huge knock on my head because according to her I was wasting the yam by peeling away the edible parts.

After her several instructions on how to do it fell on deaf ears, she called her daughter to do it so I could see and bruh...😂she wasn't peeling the yam, she was scraping away the bark 😭.

My greatest shock was realizing they don't throw away the bottom part of the yam, they peel it and add it to the ones they're cooking . The yam tasted so weird.😭

I was meant to spend two weeks with them, but my God pulled a miracle when my mum made a stopover on her way from an event just to check up on me, I insisted on going home with her and she understood why without me even saying anything. I spent just four days.

She had warned me to sit my restless a$$ home before, na me dey find "away from home" experience.
