@mountainwesttax Haven’t noticed it… although I am starting to think Gemini’s OCR capabilities are stronger at the moment?? I still like Claude for the file handling aspect, logic, automation, etc.
Stock basis, AAA, and retained earnings often move together, but they answer different questions.
I put together a simple comparison and example to show how they work and why they matter.

@JWellsTax How do you help clients feel at ease about this? Many seem reluctant even when we explain the benefits etc. I’m not sure if it’s just that they want to get it over with, or if there is just some long-held fear – but either way it can be hard to convince them.
@LoganGrafTax I too have had more success with AI on file organization/data extraction/summarization than with tax research where they tend to be directionally correct, yet off target. That said, they do a good job explaining calculations e.g. DDB depreciation
@robbhurstCPA Claude Team plan is the equivalent to ChatGPT Business. They both have Enterprise offerings as well if you need more reporting/control around compliance.
@SmithMatthewC At the moment, Gemini is great in the browser/cloud environment. Claude’s desktop app, local file integration & local coding features give the edge for some use cases. Google will probably have something comparable soon…
@mountainwesttax I really like it too. I have mine set to always express its confidence level as a percentage at the end of each response. This helps me with sampling in reviewing its work product.
@CaydenWMcLaugh Agree in principle, but don’t Google/Microsoft/etc. already mine the data to some extent? Probably safe to say that most people are using those at least for email, if not document storage as well.
