A part of reprogramming Bushside from scratch is keeping the future of the game in mind, setting up systems to work with future chapters so that it isn't a hassle for me to implement new mechanics, enemies, systems, etc.
This is the main reason I hated the old codebase so much..
I'm currently working on a smaller game project at the moment that I've been trying to make since 2020. The plan is to release it on Steam, Nintendo Switch and Xbox so fingers crossed it works out.
Playstation may be possible too if I can get dev access to it soon, but we'll see
@DjAidanVA Yesss, I'm hoping I can try release them simultaneously but I know that'll be incredibly difficult to do... We'll see what happens though. Regardless of how that goes im actually really excited about this game, and I think it has a lot of potential haha
I'll keep you all updated on the status of development as it goes along, but I will say I'm genuinely having a lot of fun with reprogramming all of this and if I can keep this up, I may have some good stuff to showcase soon enough... thank you for your patience!

- specifically Chapter 1 Overhaul work really soon, which means I'll be able to chip at laying out the rest of the game, and then get back to communicating with my team for art assets, animations, etc. which means 2026 MAY still be possible... but don't expect it.
@mascot_be Of course! And nono you're all good, I more than understand the concerns honestly. Just a bit hectic at the moment due to all the Unreal Engine stuff that's going on, so I apologize if I came off as rude at all!
@daniellagdev Ah ok. Thanks for clarifying my concerns. I'm sorry if I came off as rude or undermining your abilities (that wasn't my intention). I've never really worked in game development so I don't really know what I'm talking about much. Again thanks for the clarification
@DjAidanVA Genuinely, yeah. It's honestly super frustrating, being that I've been learning unreal engine since I started developing Bushside, and now they want me and everyone else to just drop any skills gained from UE4 and 5, like fuck off???
@mascot_be With what you've said in your replies to this, Chapter 1 itself isn't as much of a free-roam experience as Chapter 2 onwards, and we're planning on getting some sort of funding for that. At the moment we're planning on making a Kickstarter, so yeah. I know my limits, and I-
I wasn't planning on saying anything about it but man, I'm honestly really bummed out about it.
At the moment I'm planning on downgrading to Unreal Engine 4, since it's open source and quite frankly, better optimized than 5, but with Bushside in particular it would cause delays.
