From 2012 to midway through 2024, I tried to get an agent and a #traditional publisher. I ignored resources for #self-publishers. I overlooked seminars at the Writer’s Digest Conference I attended in 2022. Now, I'm trying to catch up.

One book-designing regret: not converting the alphabet I made (using shapes in Photoshop) into a typeface. Why oh why did I think it was a good idea to piece together each word in Photoshop? And now I’m so far along, it would be a waste of time to create the typeface now. 🤦‍♂️

Affinity Publisher is not for beginners! I’m trying to tackle this program. Online tutorials definitely help. I’m glad I have the experience in Adobe Photoshop to make graphics for the book.

Self-publishing is not only a 180 turn from traditional. It’s also a 180 degree switch in my own thinking. I used to look at self-publishing with contempt. Now, I see it as a viable path. I just hope I can navigate it.

@edighafrancisca Thank you so much! I'll be self-publishing this novella as my first work of fiction. I'm in the stage where I've got the front cover, the edited manuscript, and a summary -- everything else is still in production.
