@PaulErikVeel I’ll be teaching my first zoom class next week - let me know if you have any tips for engagement while respecting students with cameras off
The thanks should go entirely to @ProBonoOntario - yesterday’s positive outcome was a perfect example of how important continued and long term funding of @ProBonoOntario is for #a2j.
Starting from a Hotline call and ending in an after-hours emergency stay, yesterday we helped a client avoid an imminent eviction all in one day. Our service pyramid in action. Thanks to @DanielleGlatt of @PaliareRoland for #DoingJustice! #a2j
Nothing like a good conversation re: the public interest, free speech, and reputation to go with my coffee ☕️this morning at the @OBAlawyers‘s SLAPP Law Suits: Practice Essentials #antiSLAPP@Jule_Lefebvre @TothSusan @jay_saf@RyderGilliland
@gshotwell @PaulErikVeel The internet informs me that adjusting probability based on seeding, the odds of picking all 32 games correctly is one in 2.4 trillion.
Fun fact: the odds of picking a perfect NCAA tournament bracket are a staggering 1 in 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 (that's 9.2 quintillion). Doesn’t stop me from thinking this’ll be the year... #marchmadness
The 2019 NCAA Tournament bracket has finally been revealed. Use the madness machine to create your bracket before you enter your office pool https://t.co/Og71xTeOH0
Kawhi is 1/12 guys with at least 13 2 point field goal attempts/game and 1 of 4 under 6”9. He shoots a much higher % on those shots than the other 3 (DeRozan, Westbrook & Mitchell).. but he’s dead last in assists of the 13 who avg at least 25 points/game https://t.co/iv9hwzLfAp
#SCC today in Solomon v. Matte-Thompson, 2019 SCC 14 at para 45 “..Referring lawyers must be convinced that the professionals or advisors to whom they refer clients are sufficiently competent to fulfill the contemplated mandates..” endorses standard set in Harris (Succession) Re
An excellent piece from @TheAtlantic using Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway as a centre point. More positive and nuanced than the avg piece on an individual woman’s and/or society’s changing perception of women as they age. Great reference to @pattyphoto’s photo project “Anonymous Women”
Not even remotely surprising for the male dominated films on this list, but I am surprised that even the films with prominent (and in some cases “lead”) female characters such as Silence of the Lambs, Million Dollar Baby and Titanic have such a low proportion of women speaking.
Thanks to @LouisCentury and @ggeethaaa for writing about my and others’ experience at the #SCC for the R v Le hearing where 13/22 of the lawyers were in their first 10 yrs of call, 15/23 women, and many were racialized. This should be the norm. A representative courtroom matters.
The hearing of R. v. Le was younger and more diverse than any #SCC in our recollection. For @Advocates_Soc Keeping Tabs, @ggeethaaa and I spoke with ten women & racialized counsel in R. v. Le about why a representative courtroom matters to them. https://t.co/j3ocZngfiP
For anyone else wondering how to approach a catalogue full of Ryan Adams’ music in light of the NYTimes’ investigation. A thoughtful piece published by @parisreview in late 2017. No answers, but a lot to think about https://t.co/90fkB94sz3
