@Ophiuchus901 Hitting isn't necessary to raise a kid right and if not necessary it just seems cruel to me. Previous generations didn't have the info we have. We can and should do better. I'm so glad you and your family are doing well, I also hope you'll need this method less and less.

@Ophiuchus901 🤣 I just don't get it. I believe in rewards and consequences or punishments, just can't understand hitting if that makes me an ass so be it 🤷‍♀️ I've grown up fine without being hit, my kids are doing fine without being hit.

@Ophiuchus901 So you were taught and are now teaching its only ok to hit someone smaller and weaker who won't have anyone to tattle to? You're teaching getting caught is wrong but the action can be sometimes justified.

@WhatTheADHD Interestingly I experienced it during pregnancy prior to ADHD diagnosis, and it's common in my ADHD female relatives prior to medication/diagnosis. Not sure I would have much info of use...

@lil_writer @roryreckons I hadn't intended to be flippant, I'm ND and also had some serious health issues as a child. It had never occurred to me perhaps this is why I don't feel like an adult.
Can't deny I've been lucky with support of those closest. Have experienced teachers especially be really cruel

@roryreckons *side note: If there's a kid around ask the kid to leave the room so you can discuss adult topics/jokes you are an asshole. One particular relative would ask for this. The stuff was also offensive to the adults around.

Not going to happen. If diagnostic tests become readily available, parents with a diagnosis themselves won't be likely to terminate.

Those without🤷but the more recognition and openness of neurodiversity people won't be as afraid 🤞

The available benefits would be understanding to look for comorbidities. Knowing it runs in families allowing for less laborious diagnostic and referral practices

@dr_barnowl @autistictic @Spectrum_10K @sbaroncohen @ChrisGPackham ADHD has several common markers as such, but not a single gene that alone is diagnostic (yet? But gather it's more complex)

I get saying why would they want to know, but genetics is so interesting and finding links with other comprbidities can also be useful.

@dr_barnowl @autistictic @Spectrum_10K @sbaroncohen @ChrisGPackham They have been researching the genetic links with ADHD also. Can't see arguing they want to remove ADHD via eugenics.

I don't think it's as simple as certain deletion/additional gene conditions that a diagnostic test would be a viable goal with current science.

@autistictic @Spectrum_10K @sbaroncohen @ChrisGPackham I'm absolutely coming at it from the perspective perhaps if there were more awareness and legitimacy people like myself with late diagnosis may have been diagnosed and supports put in place earlier.

I reckon autism is genetic, autistic parents won't go for eradication of autism

@PinnockRoddy @autistictic @commaficionado @Spectrum_10K @sbaroncohen @ChrisGPackham I get there are much more severe forms of autism that perhaps mitigation would be beneficial but for very many it's just a different way of being/thinking. Many people would not be aware of the autistic individuals diagnosis and many, many more with undiagnosed autism.
