Anyone interested in public education should get informed about what's happening at WVU. This piece by Jonah Katz is a good place to start. He's a UMass Linguistics BA, a point of pride for our department, and that brings this home particularly closely.

Thanks @brainlab_mt and @catherineoff for helping the GAB Lab get this project started! Excited to see if HD-tDCS can be useful to novel language learning - if you’re in the Missoula area you too can participate in this research!
So excited to have @daniellekfahey at @umontana - bringing her expertise and HD-tDCS technology to our campus!! Goopy hair is a small price to pay for really cool research!!
Great article on peer review pros & cons. My thoughts: author doesn’t fully address concern about firehose of good research- model is based on publish/perish jobs; if jobs are reviewed this way, publishing must change in coordination w reviews. Thoughts? https://t.co/oUSv0tsq8z
#Ethics/rules 🥒: #IRB requires (for good reason) that study participation is anonymous and only study personnel can access nonanonymized data. Then uni business services asks for this data for accounting & obvi theyre not on the IRB. What’s the solution? This prob occurs widely

@wmatchin in my research bilinguals’ processing of words were affected by lemma mismatches only in sentence contexts, suggesting lemma wasn’t always being accessed. Maybe the model needs language specific adaptation but…
synecdoche - Oxford American dictionary defines this as a part representing the whole or vice versa e.g. Washington won the Stanley Cup (meaning Wa.’s hockey team) I wonder how these are constructed during processing. Any work on this?
