May 5 is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG), which is also known as Red Dress Day. The red dresses act as a visual reminder of the women, girls, and Two-Spirit people who suffer violence at a disproportionate rate.
