None of us is untouched by the challenges of the world around us.
We live in a time of conflict, displacement, uncertainty, and division. In such a world, my mind often returns to one of the simplest and most powerful teachings of Jesus Christ:
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” (Matthew 5:9).
Why do we observe the law of the fast?
The Lord did not give us the law of the fast to add burdens to our lives. He gave it instead to relieve burdens, “to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke” (Isaiah 58:6).
The messages of this conference and the Spirit of the Lord have inspired all of us to consecrate our worship, focus our learning, and unite our testimonies on the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Father’s plan for our eternal increase and joy.
As we look forward, we welcome the world, in person or virtually, to the Salt Lake Temple Celebration. On April 5, 2027, the temple doors will open to the public—the first such opening since 1893.

As your president, I pray for what our Heavenly Father wants for each of us—to be active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, proceeding forward on the covenant path into the eternities. We need one another’s prayers. I feel the positive effect of your prayers. I am thankful, and I love you.
For the first time in over a century, everyone can experience one of the world’s most sacred buildings: a temple built to honor Jesus Christ. Join us for the Salt Lake Temple Celebration, April 5–October 1, 2027.
A truth I hope will sink deeply into your soul is that your best is certainly good enough, that you are loved more than you can imagine, and that it isn't your achievements that define you, far less that determine anything about your worth or how you are seen by your Father in Heaven and His Son.
The Ten Commandments have been a foundation of our moral understanding of right and wrong for more than 3,000 years. Let us cherish these commandments given by the Lord.

As we celebrate Christ’s birth this Christmas, the Book of Mormon can help us understand His mission and purpose in partnership with the Bible.
How does reading the Book of Mormon help you remember the meaning of the Christmas season?

In the few weeks since last general conference, I have received several letters from individuals impacted by the message that no one should sit alone. I hope the messages that have been shared with me will help you.
In looking to God, we can find peace in difficulty, and our faith can continue to grow even in times of doubt and spiritual challenge. We can receive strength in the face of opposition and isolation.
“You left heaven to come here, but heaven has never left you.”
That’s the quote that will never leave *me*. It rings true and pure! Thank you, Elder Uchtdorf.
In the quiet countryside of upstate New York stands a place of protection, divine preparation, and revelation. It was here that Joseph Smith first obtained the record which we now know and love as The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ.
“Hearken unto these words and believe in Christ; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, … and they teach all men that they should do good.
“And if they are not the words of Christ, judge ye—for Christ will show unto you, with power and great glory, that they are his words, at the last day.” (2 Nephi 33:10-11)
The Book of Mormon is the eternal doctrine of Jesus Christ shared by a tribe that departed from Jerusalem. It is nothing more nor less than infinite truth through fresh eyes. It will reinforce your testimony of the Holy Bible. Read it, with faith in Jesus Christ! He will not let you down. He will come to you.
Brothers and sisters, I feel truly humbled to be celebrating my 101st birthday with my children so close—whether in person or forever in my heart.
Even though those pictured are all adults with children, grandchildren, and even a great grandchild of their own, I still feel the tenderness I felt for them when they were small enough to rock in my arms.
From then to now, I’ve done my best to teach them the gospel of Jesus Christ. The glad tidings I have taught them are the same lessons I have often shared with you.
God is our Father. We are His children. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. This is His Church, which is reflected in the name He gave it. It is only through Jesus Christ’s Atonement that we can repent of our sins and return to God’s presence.
We will find joy in life as we “think celestial” and follow the covenant path that begins with baptism and leads us to The House of The Lord. God speaks to us when we make the effort to hear Him. The world needs peacemakers, so please be kind.
Thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you for expressing gratitude. Thank you for your prayers. You inspire me to strive to become a better disciple of Jesus Christ.
