The piece is built on a single rhetorical move repeated five times: a false choice presented as a discovery. Information or meaning. Transcendence or convenience. Cosmic order or consumption. Reality does not divide along those lines, and the writer needs it to, because the whole emotional payoff depends on the reader feeling they have just been let in on something forbidden.
Three specific failures.
First, the golden-age fallacy. The medieval world that built Chartres also starved, burned heretics, and killed over points of Christology. The cathedral rests on serf labour and on a theology that left almost no room for doubt. Admiring the summit is not the same as romanticising the whole range. The original collapses the two, and that collapse is the source of most of its false profundity.
Second, the claim that we cannot build such things now is simply untrue. The Sagrada Família has been under construction for over 140 years. We build things the medieval world could not have imagined. We do not build them in the sacred form the writer recognises, which is a different point, and a more interesting one.
Third, the prose announces its own depth. "The real truth is," "the deepest layer," "the uncomfortable truth." Genuine insight does not need to certify itself five times. The structure is designed to produce the feeling of initiation rather than the thing itself.
There is a real thought buried in it: a civilisation oriented toward something above itself builds differently from one oriented toward itself. That is worth developing. Not as a lament for a lost paradise, but as a question about what exactly was lost, and whether it can be recovered without everything else that came attached.

@michalblaha Co kdybyste tam napsal celou pravdu? Rodina Jacksonových se přimotala doprostřed násilných demonstrací proti ICE a policii. Lidi z davu házeli kameny, ohňostroje na ICE a polici. Ta použila slzný plyn a flashbangy na rozehnání davu a uvolnění silnice.

@petr_zabza Spořit si v současném systému je absolutní nesmysl. Od roku 1990 do dnes je v ČR průměrná roční inflace 5% (další daň).

To znamená, že z ušetřené 100 Kč máte za 10 let 60 Kč, za 20 let 38 Kč, za 30 let 23 Kč. Tenhle systém vás okrade naprosto o vše, to byste měli učit děti.
