Seeing as Twitter is a bit bleak today, who’d like some swag?
- Figma logo hat
- Two pairs of white socks
- One pair of black cursor socks
- Limited edition stickers, NASA style
I’ll post anywhere in the world

@Amy_Hupe Thanks for writing this blog, it's great analysis and a reminder to be constructive. People will only learn more about design systems and spend more time on meaningful work when knowledge is shared.
@Amy_Hupe For what it's worth, I agree with you on setting goals and slowly changing existing systems. I just don't think we should not call that building or use any excuses to get away from the building part. Agreed to disagree.
@Amy_Hupe 'cultivating design systems' sounds an awful lot like 'mocking around'. A design system needs to be built just like any other product, so I would rather have fun helping people build instead of 'cultivating'.
@Amy_Hupe My point is, let's not stress so much over whether we use the right terminology, just do the work together with the people who are actually building the system.
@Amy_Hupe Let's go back to designers designing systems and developers building systems. Designers spend way too much time in their own tools when they could be talking to developers.
@disco_lu@horse_designsys What's your take on this then? Engineers used variables for style properties way before design tokens got popularized. I don't really understand why designers need that separation, honestly. It would be nice if devs and designers could just speak the same language.
@chrtzvonbrtz @DamsTweets Imagine hearing a knock on your door one day. "We know your font choices, bastard! You can't hide it anymore, show us the comic sans!"
@chadloder My first thought would be that email should be a government provided service. Since Google can't make money from unhoused people. But governments have even more strict security policies and are often not very pro-unhoused. Is charity the only option here?
@Amy_Hupe How can I both take your point and fly past it? I should either hit or miss :) I'm honestly just looking forward to learn more, and see others learn more about design systems.
