“work so hard it would be unreasonable for you to not succeed.”
ig work life balance really doesn’t exist in startups. anyways props to our UGC sourcing
i wanna challenge every ai b2b saas founder to go one month without talking about work to ANY new person they meet
one thing i’ve noticed in this ai/tech bubble is that so many people’s entire personality becomes work. and it makes sense. when work fills every corner of your life it’s naturally the first thing on your mind
but i think stepping outside of that is one of the most underrated things you can do for your company. here’s why
at Mimic we run hybrid ugc for apps. we start with real creators who test formats and find what actually makes people stop scrolling. once something hits we take that format and 1000x it with hyper-realistic ai ugc like this one here: https://t.co/VZKY4E1u7L
that’s how we took Kori (a korean language app) to $500k+ ARR in just 6 weeks
the ai side is what lets us move at that speed and scale. but the whole engine starts with the human side. a real creator has to find the format first and that comes from taste. knowing what’s funny right now, what people are obsessed with, what feels real vs forced
and you can’t build that taste if the only thing you talk about is ARR and your latest feature drop
honestly some of the best campaign ideas i’ve had came from convos that had nothing to do with work. a friend ranting about a show they’re obsessed with or someone showing me a random video from their fyp
if you only ever talk about work you only ever hear about work. and slowly you start building for a world that’s just a mirror of you and your group chat instead of what people actually want
that’s also why we invest so much in our creators as people.
this month we’re buying our top creator 4 tickets to any concert they want. when your creators are genuinely excited to post it shows and that’s what the ai ends up scaling
so here’s the challenge. one month. when you meet someone new don’t bring up what you do unless they ask
ask about them instead and make sure you’re asking some damn good questions
it’ll probably feel weird at first, and you might feel stiff like you have nothing to say. but that’s kinda the whole point
your company is something you’re building. it doesn’t have to be your whole personality
and if you're a consumer founder interested of what we're building at Mimic shoot me a DM!
here are the 4 most unconventional things I did to bring Kori (a korean language app) to making half-a-million dollars/year in just 6 weeks
1. we told our ugc creators we'd buy them 4 tickets to any concert of their choice if they hit a view kpi
i know that might sound crazy but if we're gonna be paying $1k to motivate and surge forward an entire roster of creators, this is 100% wroth the roi
2. if a viral format works, don't just double down on it. 1000x it.
most people running growth will find a format that gets 100k views and choose to send it out the additional 20-30 creators within their ugc roster.
but sending out formats and giving feedback/approval to videos can take days espeically with creators who are balancing classes/jobs outside the campaign.
so at Mimic (Kori's parent company) we pushed our formats 1000x through a 24/7 running phone farm through ai video generation. and for those who believe that ai ugc is simply ai slop take a look at this video and let me know in the comments if you'd be able to detect this was ai: https://t.co/0RUvSMbHwi
that account alone has garnered over a million views & a couple thousand link clicks on our UTM tracking link
3. become your ugcs' therapist.
human connection is everything especially in a world of text messages and ai taking over. we spend an entire hour/week on a creator call with creators to gather input on videos, sift through ideas together, and pinpoint problems within the program before they swell into bigger ones
4. our team doesn't really do dms. everything is laid out flat within an open conversation in our groupchats and that helps us fix problems at unimaginable speed.
if you're a startup founder interested in what we're building at Mimic, shoot me a dm
everyone around me is chasing a consulting job with 100 hr weeks all to compete for the potential chance of a $360K annual salary
we made that in our first month with kori (a korean language app) by using a hybrid model of real and ai ugc
35M views, 0.23 CPM, $30K MRR
you find 1 viral format with a batch of real creators and then 1000x output with AI UGC
the game cannot easier
my team and i just took a korean language app to $360K ARR in its first month using a hybrid model of AI UGC
we got 35M views in month 1 and at the rate we're going any company will be able to 100x output of UGC through Al
