China is introducing new rules for AI companion apps as they find new ways to address the country’s falling birth rate.

Officials are concerned that some people are becoming too emotionally attached to AI companions instead of building real-life relationships, which they believe could worsen the birth rate problem.

The new rules require AI apps to avoid inducing emotional dependence or addiction and to not damage users’ real interpersonal relationships.
They also ban virtual romantic relationships with minors
