To be clear, I am not Native Hawaiian and was not eligible for admission to Kamehameha Schools - and I am good with that. Kamehameha Schools are not for people like me. To sue them over their admissions policy is to ignore more than 100 years of colonization and its impacts.
This is wrong in so many ways (a thread). Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop set up the trust to support Native Hawaiians at a time when outsiders (and particularly haole American businessmen) were undermining the Hawaiian monarchy.

Over the decades, Native Hawaiians experienced a lot of discrimination. The ruling haole class tried to stamp out their culture and language. Today, Native Hawaiians experience economic, educational, political, and health disparities. Kamehameha Schools are part of the solution.
