We spend 50% more hours in school than Finland. They get 15 mins of recess every hour. They have NO standardized tests until the PISA in HS & they outperform us every time. When we can’t give students more recess, play, or Arts, but make them sit longer hours, we have it wrong!
Teachers, never take for granted the incredible role our effective principals and assistant principals play in shaping our schools. They are the thermostat, providing guidance, support, encouragement and leadership. They are the difference makers for the difference makers!
Proud of our state for raising the bar for students. We’ll never pass kids just to pass them or hit arbitrary quotas. Education is about ensuring our kids are prepared for the future, not making adults feel better about their own performance.
Expect more, get better results - that’s what we’re seeing in Mississippi. We’ll continue increasing standards and investing in areas that make the greatest difference on our students’ education.
