If you claim to have faith in Christ, but you do not have assurance in your eternal salvation, then you are not resting in God's promise to you.
1 John 5:13
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.”
Scripture doesn’t treat certainty as optional or as prideful. Ryan made this clear in his conversation with Keith Foskey: Our assurance isn’t based on how pure we keep ourselves. Its based on the fact that a sinless Savior died for us.
God promised Noah He would never flood the earth again. If Noah had said, “Maybe He still will,” he wouldn’t have been trusting God's promise.
God promises that the person who believes in Christ has eternal life. Refusing to believe God's promise is not humility. It's unbelief.
God made this promise:
Romans 10:9
