For the last 2 decades of my life I listen to a song from Voodoo everyday. I remember when I was a little girl and saw Untitled Video on Channel O, I nearly collapsed! to stealing my uncle’s Voodoo CD, I couldn’t understand a word he was saying but I loved the music and the sonics so much, then I turned 19 and some of the lyrics about love & pain started to make sense & every year since then the more I go through life, the more the lessons behind the poems on Voodoo reveal themselves. i just recently came to understand what D’Angelo meant when he said “I left my mojo in my favorite suit” after Annie asked Smoke if he still had his mojo in Sinners. I emailed Russel Elevado every month for two years straight in my Junior and Senior years in college because I loved his work on Voodoo so much I wanted to intern for him and study engineering under his tutelage. Really Love is in my top 5 most played tracks ever year since its release in 2015 when my homegirl Ines got the CD and told me you haveee to hear this new D’angelo song! RIP to one of the greatest to ever do it! D’Angelo!!!!!! Your music changed my life and help me get through it all at the same time! A lot of what I loved about music and wanted to emulate started with you!!!! Your absence will be felt but the legacy you left behind will continue to reign SUPREME! 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐 4EVER
