The expectations have gotten out of control & are unethical. Would you agree to review or even write a Yelp review of a restaurant you’ve never tried? I get that these trips need to produce results for them, but there’s a reason it’s called *earned media* and not *paid media*.
sometimes press trips truly have unrealistic coverage expectations. This is the reason why I prefer to do my own thing as much as I can. Takes the pressure off! But anyway, fellow freelancers, how many articles do you aim to secure per trip?
It’s happening more and more but in the end they’re burning bridges both for their agencies & clients. The other day I was then re-invited to one my outlets weren’t good enough for when another journo dropped out. Insulting, + just bad all around.
