@StreetsblogNYC Was "gently" bumped into by a bus driver making a sharp turn. Got the bus number to report it but was took shook to remember when adding a note. @MTA clearly needs better training.
@beccalew Been reflecting on this all year, due to shared observations in urban planning and people not understanding technosocial politics there much either. One big challenge is our education systems don't help people understand population-level dynamics; as we saw w/ covid.
@EmilyStewartM@hh_matt Given what we know already know about how disinformation works on social media, how will oligarch Musk's new private property, Twitter, affect the next U.S. elections?
Amidst City Hall chaos, transit officials have announced:
- A reversal of McGuinness Blvd's road diet;
- Bus lanes on 96th St;
- Protected bike lanes on Bedford Ave;
- New plazas on 34th Ave;
- Finishing 6th Ave's bike lane;
- & more on greenways, the Cross-Bronx, etc.

The Nazis rose to power legally. Every mechanism they used to take complete control was within the laws of the Weimar Republic. Once they got total power they didn’t give it up until millions were dead at their hands and parts of Germany were flattened.
this quote perfectly captures how coddled suburbanites are.
they are a primary source of traffic driving into Manhattan! I live in Manhattan and don’t have a car and have to breathe your air pollution!
@joguldi This place in particular... haven't been on here much since Musk started turning it into Parler helping all the techbros have safe space for their misogyny. Each time I log in its metastasizing seems worse.
@ryanrz@devonzuegel I find it debatable that sprawl development with a walkable town center mall-style pattern (like a Disney town) with car parking lots on the outskirts is all that different. It all seems still too car-centric with nearly all the spatial externalities of suburbanism.
In 2024, "centrism" isn't cautious, it's reckless. It creates the conditions under which the radical racist right is surging.
Fight the far right by redistributing ill-gotten gains of pandemic profiteers + polluters to pay for Green New Deal-style programs. That's pragmatic.
