Unrelatable, non-grass roots drivers, boring vanilla drivers, corporate environment, different sponsors, colors and paint schemes every week, dumb ass car of tomorrow, cutting horsepower, turning away from traditional dates, etc. are ALL bigger reasons why fans have turned away from the sport. What an incredible clusterfuck in BC. A decade ago, homeowners who may now lose their houses weren’t notified about it because (1) the courts worried that property owners would try to make their voices heard and “swamp” the proceedings, (2) the province worried about legal liability, & (3) the city said it was the responsibility of First Nations

Nascars real problem is that driver aren’t the same blue collar, pull themselves up by their bootstraps drivers like the old days. The drivers used to be relatable and often someone you aspired to be like. Now they’re boring. Vanilla. And when they do speak out, it’s in the form of a tantrum and get upset when enters their airspace.

You used to see driver cut outs in grocery stores, auto parts stores, etc. literally almost everywhere. Now you never see them anywhere.

Not racing carrs that you can actually buy is a problem too. Along with the slow and crappy sounding engines

Horsepower is an issue though. You’ve got more tire than ever and low horsepower. Throttle control isn’t needed like it used to be. You need more power than tire, not more tire than power. Even on TV you can see the cars are slow off the corners and momentum is king. No acceleration. Not to mention the sounds. The old engine screamed and were a delight to listen to
