Over on Academy Vs Audience, we're Dancing With Ghosts Alone. Three films enter, one film leaves! Followed by the other two, we don't get to kill movies, but we DO pick favourites. Listen and learn!
The reason you should listen to Carly Rae Jepsen is that her music is great, and she's criminally underrated among pop stars, and it will make you feel good and joyous and alive in an uncomplicated, pure way
@baileymeyers That sucks, you were behind so much of the Fandom stuff I liked. I used to love tuning in for mid-week gaming streams with you and @EmmaFyffe.
I don't turn up as often as I'd like, but I keep my membership in the Twitch Bailien Nation going.
Was Red Dawn the nightmare of Reagan's America, or the wet dream of their military budget? Did the remake live up to the OG, or end up weirdly embarrassed of its own references? Was that second one too specific to be ambiguous? Listen and learn.
It's another 80s classic (?) with a largely overlooked remake as Dan and Keith take on the Red Dawns! Reagan's America wove a tale of America being invaded by a Russian/Cuban alliance, which took a very elaborate amount of set-up to justify...
@imaginmatrix Münecat and her deep dives into weird internet nonsense and its risk to the actual world
My hometown hero Dan Olsen of Foldable Ideas (him you may know)
Amanda the Jedi's film/trash TV reviews
Fresh Academy Vs Audience! Does Driving Miss Daisy get more hate than it deserved, or the right amount? And the bought for the box office sees Batman battle Indiana Jones. So much to cover, so much fun to be had!
@AmandaTheJedi I watched this movie last week because you and TikTok Nikhil Clayton endorsed it so hard, now I'm done my editing work and get to watch this video as my reward, hooray!
Jump back, listeners, as Dan and Keith cut loose, Footloose. In 1984, Kevin Bacon comes to the town of Bomont to redeem it from Satanic Panic oppression through the power of dance, with excellent supporting performances from Chris Penn, John Lithgow, and the great Diane Wiest.
@sapphicspielbrg A good, old friend of mine who starting transitioning to they/femme during quarantine, and has just now started to see themselves in the mirror, has watched this four times, cried every time, and is getting a tattoo based on it for their "two-year transiversary." So, good movie.
Did I have stuff I needed to get done tonight? Yes.
Did I put it all on hold to finish the three different @AmandaTheJedi videos I was partway through? Of course yes, priorities, people.
