I am deeply disappointed to see the Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative Party once again using paid advertising to target a strong, intelligent woman in this province.

This is not an isolated incident. It is part of a pattern in the party’s tactics, and Nova Scotians are tired of it. People do not want politics built on personal attacks, disrespect, and misleading narratives. They want leadership, honesty, and a focus on the issues that matter in their lives.

It also raises a serious question for Progressive Conservative Party members: do they believe this is an ethical use of the donations they make to their party?

Disagreement in public life is expected. Healthy debate is part of democracy. But these kinds of attacks are beneath the standard Nova Scotians deserve, and they contribute to a political culture that too often harms women.

This ad should be removed. The party executive should hold an emergency meeting to review the conduct, direction, and policies of its communications team and demand an immediate end to tactics that harm women in this province.

Women should not have to accept being demeaned as the price of participating in public life. Nova Scotia can and must do better.

What’s true is the lack of highway maintenance over the last four years, back in the 1990s highways had double the maintenance staff working to maintain road safety. Just follow my post on Facebook and you’ll see what I’m talking about Rob.

That’s not true. The Liberal govt of the 1990s imposed deep cuts in the budget for highways, roads and bridges. John Hamm’s government reversed these cuts, but also raised the gas tax to put all of the new proceeds into roadbuilding. Even with inflation accounted for, the Houston PCs (as well as the previous Liberal govt)
