4 years later, Khan is Lord Khan of Tooting, sworn in this month while still sitting as Mayor of London. He now draws a £371 daily Lords allowance on top of his £170,282 mayoral salary, and there's no rule stopping him holding both.

Every principle these people preach lasts exactly as long as it takes the establishment to offer them a title. Take the seat, keep the salary, forget the speech.
