@money_cruncher If you live in a high tax state, VUSXX is 100 percent state tax exempt, while VMFXX is only about two thirds exempt.
It’s annoying to have to move it out of the sweep fund, but if you’re using it to keep cash it’s good to know.
@Havel001Martin@DrDiGiorgio Maybe they won’t. But they do ask for your medical history so if you omit that you are technically lying. And maybe you mentioned a result to your pcp who documented it in their note.
You can always try to hide things, but if a claim comes through they may dig a bit deeper.
@DrDiGiorgio Speaking of insurance it’s crossed my mind that some of these people are going to get screwed when they try and buy life insurance and they get asked about the results of all these screenings.
Or disability. pretty sure that bulging disc will affect premiums rates.
@DrDiGiorgio Sure, not that way. But they will tell their doctor they have back pain once they know they have a bulging disc. Will get an xray, then a regular MRI, and then maybe surgery. Or maybe just PT. All through insurance. And all probably unnecessary.
@CMorrisonMDFACC@DrDiGiorgio Most docs can’t afford to “see fewer patients now than years ago”. Reimbursement goes down and cost goes up. Not to mention huge loans at the outset.
Your experience at near retirement is not representative.
@DrDiGiorgio@adesantisb And the entire US government apparatus.
Doesn’t have to do much oversight because it can use the DOJ and IRS to help ensure compliance.
@J3ffKnowsBall @FiSurgi Taxes don’t work that way. There’s no cliff (usually). So the new money gets taxed at the higher rate but the money up that point gets taxed at the same level as before.
You do however lose some incentive to work, when you can only keep half of each new dollar.
@SalaryDr Best decision was to stop trying to pick stock winners. I thought I could make more than my loan interest, and ended up losing.
Instead I paid off my loans as fast as possible, and kept putting money in index funds. Took 20 years to fully understand how great this move was.
@paulswaney3@Hstlinghosptlis Years ago there were these huge payouts for out of network providers. That’s why the check went to you and not the doctor. I’m not in private practice, but those have gone away.
In network prices are like Dutch said. And non spine surgeries are way less. Laughable actually.
