@nypost My 70k salary amounts to only a little over 4k a month, my rent was 2500 a month before utilities , thus I had only 1500 left over for all other bills, and could not afford to live anywhere close to where I worked. I had to move to a place in San Diego and take my classes online
@nypost I want to correct an error to this story: I asked for 100k not 200k, I am currently earning 70k and I asked for an increase of my salary to 100k to afford my living expenses and they refused.
Many of you may have heard about @danphysic โs story about how he, as a lecturing professor at UCLA, could not earn enough to live near UCLA, went homeless, and is now facing disciplinary action from the university. However, many of you probably donโt know that Dan and I were at UC Irvine together and started our Physics PhDs in the same year. I share some of my thoughts on the news story and encourage you to follow Danโs accounts to hear his story through his own words.
