@WiseAboutTexas, I’m so glad to have heard the interview with Stephen Hardin a few weeks ago. I checked out the audio version of Texian Exodus on the Libby app. I knew what the Runaway Scrape was, but having the details come alive in Hardin’s book was fascinating!
If you've been following, you know about my quest to learn about Jesus.
We realized we didn't have a Bible and today it arrived. Thankfully, it did not spontaneously combust when I touched it - so we've got that going for us.
Where should we start? I think we are going to read a section every evening, we get up at 4:45 and the morning is already rushed.
I know the Jesus part is in the second half, but it's going to take a long time to read the whole book. So what is a good starting point?
Thank you all for all of the support. It's weird talking about real life on here and not just being completely obnoxious (love you, my boomers).
I'm finding a way to still be me and explore this without guilt and shame. Thanks to those of you who have supported that.
@LeeStrobel@Zondervan And I forgot to say that the guy leading the group this time around, Richard Cottle, has a master’s degree in apologetics! And I’m loving learning from his insights.
I taught the Case for Faith small group study when it first came out years ago. And now in 2025 the small group that meets at my house is going through it! Its timeless truths never change. Thanks, @LeeStrobel and @Zondervan
Just had to get my picture on the Regent College campus since I was in Vancouver. It has enjoyed a couple of well known faculty in years past, such as J.I. Packer and Eugene Peterson. #jipacker#eugenepeterson@dankimball@MarkMittelberg@LeeStrobel
What’s so good about Good Friday?
It wasn’t a good day for Jesus.
It wasn’t good for the disciples either.
It certainly wasn’t good for Mary.
It wasn’t even good for the religious leaders who opposed Jesus, for Herod or Pilate who allowed him to be crucified, or for the Roman soldiers who pounded the nails into his hands and feet… They all had blood on their hands.
I can only think of one person who had a good day: Barabbas, the convict who was released from prison and allowed to go free…
We are all like Barabbas – spiritual convicts who will be released from prison, if we‘ll just receive Jesus and the payment he made on our behalf on the cross.
Yes, we are sinners who desperately need the Savior. Say yes to him, and both forgiveness and freedom will be yours to enjoy, as you love and follow him.
So please, allow Christ to make it a Good Friday for you today 🙏🏼
True forgiveness isn’t about forgetting — it’s about choosing to let go of the hurt so you can move on. It’s for your own freedom, not the other person’s benefit.
Astronaut proclaims the Gospel when asked about the lesson he's learned from being stranded in space.
“My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ… He is working out His plan and His purposes.”
Christ is King. 🙏
@LeeStrobel Gonna have to get my hands on a copy of this soon! Thank you, @LeeStrobel, for what I’m sure is gonna be a great addition to anyone’s Christian Apologetics library.
@MikeWingerii Did you ever find a Bible that has commentary that deals with the difficult questions? Is there one you can recommend now that hundreds of people have replied? I’m truly interested. Thank you.
