The Simucube 3 Ultimate is out today.
I'll keep the first impression short - because the full review next week is where everything gets unpacked properly. So here it is: it's the best base I've ever driven. No hesitation on that one. The part I find most interesting is the motor. It's the first consumer wheelbase running a genuinely different type of motor technology - the same kind you find in modern EVs - and that's how it pulls 35 Nm out of the same power supply the Pro uses for 25 Nm. I'll explain exactly how that works in a way that actually makes sense, I promise.
The full review goes deep on how it drives, the motor itself, and an honest status update on where the ecosystem stands in 2026 - including the parts I'm still not fully sold on. You know how it works on this channel: if something's excellent I'll say it, and if something worries me I'll say that too. Full review next week or maybe this weekend if I can find some time. If you're already ordering, code DAN saves you a bit at checkout (affiliate code!). If you want to best base out there and don't care about the USB passthrough stuff - then go for it!
What do you think about the base? Is the price too high? EU: https://t.co/0aWweFEEI4

The @realVRS DFP20 is less than 650€ right now (w discount code) - absolute steal for one of the best bases - nobody really needs more than that.
Telemetry stuff coming later too and their NextGen FFB is brilliant. And you can also add USB passthrough.

@JaroslavHonzik My first proper online sim ... good times in the Masters of Endurance back then :D I'd love to see south city and blackwood GP in other sims!
Now that a few days have passed since the @Simucube announcement … what’s your opinion on it?
I talked to the Simucube CEO live on stream yesterday (first time I’ve ever done an interview like this 😅) - we covered the most asked questions. The full chat is up on my YouTube channel if you’re curious.
Personally, I think it’s a missed opportunity not to include USB passthrough. On paper, the system looks great, and I genuinely wish them the best - but I’m just not a fan of proprietary integrations.
I think the Simlab DDX base could become a strong contender. Let’s see how they compare on track!
I need to try this - always enjoyed the Clubsport DD+ a lot, FFB has always been great on that one - just lacking a bit on torque. Probably a bit underrated because people don’t expect this from Fanatec any more. But if the Podium DD is based (& improved) on that this could be an excellent base. Obviously no USB passthrough on this as well but I don’t think anyone would have expected this 😅
I hope they dropped the „needs fanatec wheel to unlock ffb“.
Once you test it out, you'll understand.
Podium DD will hold 25 Nm of consistent holding torque, with a 33 Nm peak overshoot.
No need to worry about overheating with the optimized thermal management and anodized aluminum body with cooling fins.
@_boostedmedia Yeah it’s getting bad - also with manufacturers sending out „review guidelines“ you can also immediately tell which channels will just read them out without adding anything. Good clues are always if there is absolutely nothing in the video that critizises like … anything
