Presented 'The State of the County Address' at the Kisii County Assembly today. Indeed it was an opportunity to outline the milestones we have surmounted as a county in development and service delivery in the last one year of my administration. I also unveiled our future development plans in the key areas of focus in infrastructure development, good governance, wealth creation, sustainable environment conservation, social development and ICT as an enabler. I urge residents of the county to lend us support to help us scale greater heights in matters development going forward.

I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to the family of Dr. Kennedy Ombaba Mwengei; Chief Officer Department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development, County Government of Kisii, for the untimely death of his beloved wife the late Mary Kerubo Nyangenya. The sudden death of Mary Kerubo is such a big loss to the family, friends and the Education sector, the late having been a teacher in our secondary schools until her demise. Indeed, the late Kerubo has been described as an affable, humble, soft spoken and forthright professional, who diligently executed her duties in the schools she taught in. Her contribution in the education sector, will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark in the students she handled in the course of duty, especially at Musasa Secondary school in Nandi County where she reportedly collapsed while attending to students in class. As a family person, she always remained dedicated to the young children she has left behind with her beloved husband Dr. Kennedy Ombaba, a hard working senior officer in my administration. My commiserations to her family, friends, colleagues, students and the people of Kisii county as we come to terms with the untimely death of Madam Mary Kerubo Nyangenya. May The Lord Keep her soul in Eternal Peace!

In an effort to step up our state of preparedness in the wake of the anticipated destructive El-Nino rains, together with Kisii County Commissioner Tom Anjere, we today held a joint consultative meeting incorporating officials from the County Government, National Government and agencies involved in disaster management and relief. Already, the El-Nino emergency committee has mapped out disaster prone areas in terms of floods, mudslides and lightening, besides exploring the possible steps for prevention and mitigation. I urge county residents to equally be wary of the looming danger due to long rains and take the necessary steps to avert loss of lives.
