🇮🇪 Ireland will hold the upcoming Presidency of @EUCouncil starting on July 1. It has an important role in protecting Jewish life in Europe.

WJC's Executive VP Maram Stern (right) and Director of European Affairs Dany Levin Prist (left) met in Dublin today with @ThomasByrneTD, Ireland's Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence, to discuss how we can cooperate in addressing antisemitism, particularly through the implementation of the EU's Digital Services Act.

We welcome the consensus decision by the 27 foreign ministers of the EU to designate and list the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization.

This is a long overdue step that reflects the reality of the grave threat posed by the Iranian regime to EU security, regional stability, and democratic societies worldwide.

For years, we have warned that the IRGC is the engine behind Iran’s system of state-sponsored terrorism and the primary instrument through which Tehran exports violence, extremism and repression far beyond its borders.

Through its extensive network of proxies, the IRGC has enabled and directed attacks against Jewish communities, EU and international interests, and countless innocent civilians across the Middle East and beyond.

At the same time, it has played a leading role in the brutal repression of peaceful protests inside Iran, carrying out serious human rights violations and demonstrating complete contempt for fundamental freedoms and international law.

This designation will trigger asset freezes and travel bans, placing the IRGC alongside terrorist entities such as al-Qaeda and Islamic State under the EU’s sanctions regime. It sends a tangible message that the European Union will no longer tolerate the export of terrorism and repression from Tehran.

This step must now be matched by strong and consistent enforcement, including the dismantling of the IRGC’s financial and operational networks within the EU, so that this decision delivers real consequences and meaningful protection for European citizens, Jewish communities, and democratic societies worldwide.

It was an honor to be part of the 🇪🇺 @EU_Commission’s International Holocaust Remembrance Day conference in Brussels, in partnership with @CY2026EU: “Remembering the past. Shaping the future.”

We deeply appreciate the work of @EUAntisemitism, who has been integral in creating both policy and action when it comes to supporting and protecting Jewish life in Europe through years of turbulent antisemitism.

As part of the program, we received a special address from @magnusbrunner, the EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, and heard the testimony of Holocaust survivor Alfred Garwood.

With International Holocaust Remembrance Day coming up on January 27, it is our duty to ensure that Holocaust memory and education become ingrained in our societies.

WJC welcomes the 🇪🇺 @EUCouncil's reaffirmation of its dedication to fighting antisemitism, as reflected in their Conclusions that were adopted today.

The European Council Conclusions - agreed by consensus among all 27 EU heads of state and government - set the political direction for the EU and guide the work of EU institutions and member states.

Having a dedicated paragraph condemning all forms of anti-Jewish hatred is particularly important in the immediate aftermath of the devastating terror attack that targeted Australia’s Jewish community during Hanukkah.

Governments must leverage the inclusion of this crucial clause as a catalyst to enact stricter measures to protect Jewish members of their own countries.

Over many months, WJC engaged closely with the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU, contributing directly to the inclusion of clear and dedicated language on antisemitism in the European Council’s Conclusions.

We will continue supporting the EU and its member states in implementing meaningful, effective measures to combat antisemitism and foster Jewish life.

Important meeting today of WJC's SECCA forum (Special Envoys & Coordinators Combating Antisemitism) in Krakow, discussing with Jewish communities how we can address their biggest worries when it comes to #antisemitism.

This is especially pressing as - while marking 80 years since Auschwitz - we are seeing a rise in fringe political movements with real consequences on communities.

The security of our ✡️ Jewish communities is paramount.

WJC w/ @HU24EU @EU_Commission & @eurojewcong convened a security conference in Brussels today focusing on the safety of Jewish communities across Europe post-October 7, bringing together public officials, security experts, and Jewish community leaders.

The issue of Jewish security requires urgent collaboration between public authorities and Jewish leaders.

Horrified and shocked by the attacks in Amsterdam on #Makkabi football fans last night, reminiscent of Europe's dark days just as we prepare to remember #Pogrom Night of 1938. Trusting the Dutch authorities will investigate, prosecute and reestablish security for Jews people.
