Among all the previously unseen artwork on display at the Musée d’Orsay’s E33 exhibition, this piece hit me the hardest.
It shows the Dessendre family in an ordinary moment, before the fire tore everything apart. Alicia, Renoir, and Aline look so peaceful together, so full of warmth and love for one another, that you can feel just how real their happiness once was. And that’s exactly what makes it so devastating. Knowing what comes after, I can’t look at this without my chest tightening. I just keep wishing these gentle days could have lasted forever. It’s such a beautiful, unbearably heartbreaking piece.
waiittttt. kris was known to be a prankster until they just. stopped. what if kris pushing dess into the lake was meant to be a harmless prank. and when dess didn't come up. when kris wasn't able to save her. it's why they're more known as mumbly+quiet. wracked with guilt.
