This day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss.
The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians—including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them – all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes.
Three years later, we must refuse to accept a world in which occupation and apartheid continue, where war crimes are met with impunity, and our federal government continues its complicity with every arms shipment.
To honor the dead, we must fight for a world in which every person can live with freedom, safety, and dignity.
As a lesbian, the lesbian label has never felt like a "box", nor a "prison", nor "restrictive/limiting". If you think it is, then you're not a lesbian.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
calling urself a lesbian and dating a trans man is rly no different to straight men dating trans men and calling themselves straight, you're either in denial or fetishising trans men or both
trans men are men, if you are attracted to them you are attracted to men, that's okay.
Every last person who has been engaging in the lesbian erasure recently needs to see this. Lesbians are women who are exclusively and immutably attracted to women only. Please stop erasing the very reality that we cannot control nor did we choose. Please leave lesbians alone.
The fact that the head of the Ku Klux Klan can casually do an interview without being arraigned by the FBI for Hate Crimes and Domestic Terrorism is truly a slap in the face to all people of color in America
So just to summarize, venues will gladly host the racist slur-loving Morgan Wallen, repeated abuser Chris Brown, and proud Nazi supporter Kanye on tour, but draw the line at free speech they dislike? Cool. Cool. Cool.
Macklemore says Ed Sheeran and his team decided to remove him from tour due to his comments in support of Palestine, after Kraft Group rallied stadium owners and gave Ed an ultimatum:
“[Ed] told me that the words ‘Free Palestine’ and the image of the Palestinian flag were hurtful to a lot of people he spoke with. I told him that if those words were more offensive than tens of thousands of Palestinian children being killed by Israel, then there was a fundamental disconnect between where those people stood and where I stood. But he couldn't get past his public facing, ‘I don't take sides.’”
