@rantanpln@Geraldini93 No he wasn’t. He was 3rd or 4th best. Rashard Lewis was 2nd best averaging 19.0 PPG and 6.4 RPG during those playoffs - Hedo averaged 15.8 PPG, 4.5 RPG. Jameer Nelson was better during the regular season, but was injured and only played 5 games of those playoffs.
@Geraldini93 Out of the 997 games he played in his career, he only started for half those games, so he wasn’t even a top 20% player for more than half of his career. Maybe at his peak, you could argue he’d be close to a top 20% player, but that’s debatable.
@Geraldini93 80% of the league?! Bro, come on now. That would mean that Hedo would be in the top 3 players for each team’s roster.
Pick any single roster in the NBA and I promise you this guy doesn’t make the top 3 on almost any of them.
@RTNBA Completely agree! He’s playing by the rules. You’re telling me that no one else in the NBA would do this if they could? Every other player tries to sell calls, they just aren’t as good at it as Shai.
You’re not as smart as you think you are. That pace chart misses the argument. 1998 teams took 12.7 threes/game. 2026 teams take 37.0. OKC and SAS each take 37.9. This isn’t about possessions…it’s spacing, math, 30-ft closeouts, 5-out attacks, and switch hunting. 1998 rosters weren’t built for that.
@dadwithavlog@pj_schreiner Emotional argument. Provide actual facts. The game was far slower. Less pace, space, and 3pt fga. That changes how athletic bigs, wings, and guards need to be to effectively run up and down the court on offense and defense and space the floor.
@No_Nonsense5982@pj_schreiner Bro, this isn’t just any game. It’s the Finals. I beg you to please find me 3 minutes of any finals game in the last 10 years that was this bad.
Zero defense? Are you watching the same sport. Defense is infinitely harder in today’s game having to now defend the 3.
@eric_dempsey08@pj_schreiner Bro, stop with this nonsense. The 3 ball has completely changed the game. Hakeem would have adapted, but it would be a hell of a lot harder for Hakeem, Ewing and Shaq to have to guard opposing 5s out on the perimeter, get run through screens, etc.
