Weeks ago I said this pandemic was The Great Revealer.
It has revealed this about us:
We are an armed GoFundMe campaign pretending to be a superpower. We substitute air shows for leadership & see shared sacrifice as individual injustice. We don’t have to be this way. But we are
“Grandpa, tell us more about President Kushner and the Before Times!”
“Stay quiet and eat your radioactive rats, children. The fire is almost dead and the hunter-killer robots will be out soon.”
So the Republican position is employers should get a waiver of liability if their workplace turns out to be unhealthy, but employees should lose unemployment benefits if they won't return to that unhealthy workplace. Will American capitalism survive the current Republican Party?
Here's my #covidchallenge to the astroturf Trump campaign organizers of these protests: to fully reopen the economy, despite the counsel of public health experts.
Since it's not a problem, go volunteer in a nursing home for a week.
I'll wait.
I am fine with journalists doing their due diligence on the Tara Reade accusation against Biden. But there should be a comparable amount of coverage of, say, the woman who brought charges against Trump for raping her when she was 13.
If we’re forced to talk about Tara (once they decide which of her many versions of her story to run with),we finally get to talk about 25+ sexual asssult allegations against Trump incl rape of a 13 year-old girl, right? Or Is media still protecting him bcs he’s good for ratings?
Statement of Dr. Rick Bright: “Yesterday, I was removed from my positions as the Director of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) and HHS Deputy Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response by the Administration and involuntarily transferred...
An attempt to distract us from his total mismanagement (43,000 of our fellow Americans have died so far - 20,000 more than next closest country AND we’ve tested little more than 1% of U.S.). But will still have terrible consequences for America. We should take it seriously.
Who the fuck do you think is working on the farms and feed lots, in the packing houses and processing plants at a time where we are struggling to feed ourselves? Who is in the kitchen? Who is picking, preparing, serving the food we eat and cleaning up afterwards?
Joe Biden on Gov. Hogan asking South Korea for testing help: "Think about that: a Governor had to turn to a country halfway around the world for aid because he couldn't rely on timely help from a President and a White House that sits just miles from his state’s border."
(And I’ll add one caveat: There are a handful of violent people & groups involved in some of these protests. They’re not the driving force, but they’re present. Anyone who incites or promotes premeditated attacks should face charges — not for protesting, but for violence). 17/
3/ The other part of this, especially in Michigan is that Trump allied outside groups are seeing the Presidents support drop rapidly in Michigan, which is existential for the President. So there’s a big push to get a new story moving.
Very key to note that the White House is telling reporters they're refusing to vote funds to relieve state and local governments because they want to hold it back as leverage to force them to "reopen" when the White House tells them to.
