Mama,
I last saw you and Papa together more than 35 years ago. Since the day Papa left, I have watched you face everything life threw at you with never-ending courage and dignity. Only Priyanka and I really know what you have been through, and how difficult your life after Papa truly was.
I am happy, and so proud, that your story - “Belonging: A Journey of Love” - will finally be read by the millions of people who love you. I know how hard it was for someone as private as you to tell the world your beautiful story.
Today, on his birthday, I can see Papa smiling and looking down proudly at his beautiful Sonia.
Love,
Rahul
Mr. Modi, our students are demanding Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
Don’t insult their intelligence with this pathetic midnight video.
1. Sack Pradhan.
2. Punish those who beat students.
3. Apologise

Today, I went to Lok Bhavan and, in the absence of the Governor, handed over my resignation letter from the post of Chief Minister to the Governor’s Special Secretary.
As someone who was born and brought up in a small village, I had never imagined that one day I would become an MLA, a Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, and serve twice as the Chief Minister of Karnataka. A dream this big became possible only because of the Constitution written by Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
Buddha, Basavanna, Babasaheb Ambedkar, and Mahatma Gandhi have always shown me the path. Through my forty-eight years in public life, I have always tried to stand with honesty beside the poor, the oppressed, the neglected, and those who were denied opportunities in society. That is the greatest satisfaction of my life.
I will forever remain grateful to the party legislators who trusted me and chose me to lead, to my cabinet colleagues who walked with me through every challenge, and to Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Shri Rahul Gandhi, and AICC President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge for believing in me and giving me this responsibility.
But above all, I bow my head before the people of Karnataka, the lakhs of affectionate hearts who treated me as one among their own, blessed me, encouraged me, corrected me, stood by me in difficult times, and held my hand throughout this long journey. Whatever I am today is because of you.
The Constitution is my religion, and the people are my God. My resignation is only from the Chief Minister’s post, not from public life or from my commitment to the people.
Till my last breath, I will continue to fight for social justice and stand against divisive communal forces that go against the spirit of our Constitution.
Thank you for your love, trust, and companionship through every step of this journey. ❤
@rajatKa25917800@scribe_prashant what do you think will happen if China attacks India... Stock market will go up? or half the valuation will get wiped?
@sidhant@suhasinih You chickened out badly... have the guts and courage to follow up and ask the actual question, watch a few Karan Thapar interviews for reference. This vague 'we all have seen the comments' is just pathetic and cowardly journalism.
@indicdialectic@ajay43 Since 2014 our tax revenues, Budgets and forex reserves have grown way more than 100%, and due to inflation a 20% increase in fuel bills in 2026 is still much less compared to what it was in 2014.
Was talking to a senior foreign policy wonk, with close ties to RSS, on Friday. I found it very interesting that I am writing the gist here--with his permission, but without naming him. He said the war is the single largest threat to India's economic rise since the early 1990s. He is "personally" not happy with the way India responded to the conflict. "Iran is a civilisational friend. We should have condemned the assassination of Khamenei and expressed our condolences sooner. We should have condoled the killings of the sailors, maybe without naming the US. They were our guests. That would have been the right position." He also expressed dismay over the killing of the Supreme Leader. "How can it be acceptable? Killing a head of the state, killing a religious leader, by foreign powers?" I asked him about Pakistan's growing role in West Asia -- both as a strategic defence partner of Saudi Arabia and as an interlocutor between Iran and the US. "That's exactly why I say India should stay neutral. This is a highly unstable region where we have a lot of strategic and economic interests at stake. I am all for deepening partnership with Israel. But we can't be seen allying with only one side." He appeared more critical of the US than Israel with regard to the current war. "America is not bothered about any of its partners. Why should we tolerate American hegemony in our neighbourhood when the world is becoming more multipolar? This war has also busted several myths about America and its military power. Iran singlehandedly attacked all American bases in the region. Did anyone come to defend the Arabs?" What should India do? "Protect strategic autonomy. Diversify energy sources. And strengthen ties with our civilisational partners, instead of blindly following the line from Washington."

Amazing investigation into Adani by the FT:
"In January 2019, the DL Acacia, a 229m-long bulk carrier with a South Korean owner and Panamanian flag, departed the Indonesian port of Kaliorang in East Kalimantan carrying 74,820 tonnes of thermal coal destined for the fires of an Indian power station.
During the voyage, something extraordinary occurred: the value of its cargo doubled. In export records the price was $1.9mn, plus $42,000 for shipping and insurance. On arrival at India’s largest commercial port, Mundra in Gujarat run by Adani, the declared import value was $4.3mn." https://t.co/JiHlWpI2VY
We may be witnessing the total obliteration of Gaza.
Political leaders refusing to speak out should feel eternal shame over the horror they are allowing to unfold.
Those of us who believe in peace cannot stay silent. We must say to the Palestinian people: you are not alone.

"Caste may be bad. Caste may lead to conduct so gross as to be called man’s inhumanity to man.
All the same, it must be recognised that the Hindus observe caste not because they are inhuman or wrong-headed.
They observe caste because they are deeply religious.
People are not wrong in observing caste.
In my view, what is wrong is their religion, which has inculcated this notion of caste.
If this is correct, then obviously the enemy you must grapple with is not the people who observe caste, but the shastras which teach them this religion of caste," Dr BR Ambedkar, Annihilation of Caste, 1936.
‘We live in fear that any story could be our last story’ ‘Journalism is dead and buried in #Kashmir’ We spoke to more than 2 dozen journalists who accuse the Indian govt of running a sinister & systematic campaign to silence the press in the region. #India https://t.co/TP215WA6ru
Dear @Tejasvi_Surya, don’t worry about Karnataka or my Departments, it is in safe hands.
Your colleagues and you will have to face the law of the land if you spread misinformation.
Can you please tell the state how many people dialed in to your “helpline” to seek aid against Congress govt's ‘political vendetta'?
Meanwhile Top things you can do for the state:
- Ask Central Govt to release Funds that they owe us
- Pick an opposition leader here in state
- Learn to sit still in an airplane
