As someone who works in legal, if I’m asking you to hop on a call it’s because we don’t want a paper trail or because you simply can’t read. Those are the options.
"A court of law cannot add to or subtract from the provisions of a statute. As a matter of law, a court must blindly follow and apply the jurisdictional limits and limitations as contained or provided in a statute."

Adultery in matrimonial proceedings need not be proved by direct or eyewitness evidence.
Because adultery is usually committed in private, it may be established by credible circumstantial evidence from which the Court can reasonably infer that it occurred.
Where the evidence shows an adulterous disposition between the parties and an opportunity to commit the act, the Court may infer adultery.

When lawyers lose a case, the first complaint is often that they were denied fair hearing. That argument, however, does not succeed simply because the court reached a conclusion they dislike.
In Addy v. University of Maiduguri (2022) LCN/15993(CA), the Court of Appeal reaffirmed that where a court's decision is consistent with the documentary evidence and the terms freely agreed by the parties, there is no breach of the right to fair hearing. A court's duty is to interpret the contract before it, not to rewrite it in favour of either party.
The judgment also reminds us that an appellant who alleges improper evaluation of evidence must do more than express dissatisfaction with the outcome.
They must identify the specific errors in the evaluation and demonstrate that correcting those errors would have produced a different result. Without doing so, a complaint of denial of fair hearing amounts to nothing more than an attempt to relitigate the merits of the case under the guise of a constitutional complaint.
A preliminary objection does not always require an affidavit.
If it raises a pure point of law, no affidavit is necessary. Clear grounds will suffice, especially where the relevant facts already appear on the court's processes.
An affidavit becomes necessary only where the objection depends on disputed facts or on facts that are not already before the court.
Mohammed v. Babalola, SAN (2011) LPELR 8973(CA).
Life is full of trade-offs. Every choice has a cost. When you say yes to one thing, you say no to others. This is how the world works. It’s like gravity. You can’t escape it.
Opportunity cost is what you give up when you make a choice. It’s the thing you can’t have because you picked something else. Say you have a free evening. You can work on your startup or go to a movie. If you work, you miss the fun. If you go to the movie, you miss the chance to make progress.
Every choice has an opportunity cost because every time you say yes to something, you’re implicitly saying no to other things. You need to know your opportunity costs. This helps you make good trade-offs.
It’s not always easy, but being conscious of the trade-offs you’re making can help you make better decisions.
Wisdom is anticipating the consequences of your choices. In life and business, success is about making good trade-offs. It’s not about having it all. It’s about having what matters most. We all value different things. That’s what makes life rich.
Lawyers keep getting caught using fake cases they got from ChatGPT.
Here's how I actually use AI as an attorney, and the two things I NEVER use it for:
Many people disguise a lack of character as virtue because admitting fault is harder than rationalising it. A person who cannot keep confidence won’t acknowledge that they lack discretion; instead, they’ll say, “I’m just transparent by nature.”
There’s also a certain kind of man who confesses every “guilty act” to his wife—not out of honesty, but because he cannot bear the weight of his own shame. Unable to carry it himself, he transfers it to her, burdening her with knowledge she may have been better off without.
Psychologically, he is trying to be the “good boy” before his second mother. Ironically, this often breeds resentment rather than intimacy, because she is forced into the role of emotional custodian, carrying responsibility for a man who cannot contain himself.
“Let me talk to mumsy,” “The wifey has to hear it.” Fool.
