@Thejimpenman Run away from IT, you'll be competing against people from overseas who's certifications are more valuable than yours. At least in trades the Aussie whitecards are preferenced over foreign worker's credentials.
@ausstockchick The old investment settings meant that anyone earning an average wage or less, that didn't own a home would end up homeless in retirement. Superannuation won't cover rent. Things had to change. ALP refuses to touch migration, but that'll be the next domino to fall. More to come.
@lesstenny Pauline Hanson will win elections until the ALP Taxes the Gas industry, makes housing affordable and rebalances the economy towards home ownership and workers.
@blowingtom2 The banks and both major parties ruined this country with greed and insane house prices. A couple working retail used to be able to buy a house in Adelaide/Melbourne/Brisbane/Perth/Darwin. One Nation voters want to destroy the system that screwed that birthright away from us.
@Noahpinion Up to 25% of trans people are Autistic. Itβs a statistically significant number. Programming is known to be attractive to autistic people so itβs not that surprising thereβs overlap.
@4mambo Break up the AMA, the Doctors union is too powerful. Force the creation of more student positions in hospitals/universities. Medicine is being gatekeot so we have to top up with foreign workers. The medical union is the problem.
@benz145 The best VR games are Star Wars: X-Wing Remake, Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance, and Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries and Mechwarrior 5: Clans. The Descent games work well in VR. Wing Commander needs a VR remake. Freespace 2's VR mode needs a clean up.
@benz145 VR support should be added to every space flight/flight simulator game out there. It's criminal how many simulator games are missing VR that would benefit from minimal changes to add support for it.
@AlcatorSK@benz145 Depends on the game, Descent 1/2/3 translated perfectly into VR with that method. The main thing that had to be updated was scaling the HUD by 0.8 to make it fit in the VR headset view, that was because the PSVR2 headset rubber inserts block the last 20% of the screens.
@mrr78504@cyberpunkdingo Wrong, it teaches customer service, it often teaches entry level skills in ERP/Data Management/Data Entry. It teaches workers to learn how to escalate issues. Just because you haven't worked in a call centre doesn't mean the skills learnt there aren't useful.
@mrr78504@cyberpunkdingo By allowing our IT workforce to be mostly imported and trained overseas in India/China/South America we are destroying our pool of local talent for securing our critical infrastructure. Government departments are having to use outside contractors with no loyalty to Australia.
@mrr78504@cyberpunkdingo There is no such thing as unskilled work, all work becomes more efficient with time/investment/experience. Entry level roles become senior positions later. By scrapping entry level roles we are killing our capabilities. This is becoming a national security issue in cybersec.
