@jimdrew12724 I think having real life experiences and especially hardships makes you a better writer. A bad childhood is an unfortunate way of getting that, so I'd say it could contribute to good writing.

@king_reinhardt I believe it's a doomed financial strategy. The idea is stick with franchises and remakes because they're less effort to make and proven money makers. The problem is people are getting tired of it and they're not guaranteed to make money anymore.

@birdienotabird 'not knowing' could be improved and would benefit authors and agents. I'm a software engineer and we live for that kind of process improvement. Domino's can tell me the status of my pizza. I should know the status of my query. Why don't we have this? Probably lots of reasons...

@JanePantsuit Sounds interesting 🙂 I think you could call it historical fiction or just commercial. This is one of the reasons I don't like traditional querying because we have to force our ideas into standard boxes. Maybe find comps and see what category they are?

@JanePantsuit When is history historical? Interesting question. For those of who came before that, it seems weird to call it historical fiction. My gut feels like 80s or earlier could be historical fiction, but maybe it's all relative.

@SteSierra First I don't agree with rules for writing, it's art not math. But there are good suggestions for structure and with this one I think, yes a want or goal is important and there might be something/someone preventing it or instead they might try to get it the wrong way at first.

@elchandler I don't remember the first one being a long read, but the later books got long and a little slow at times. But still his world and characters kept me hooked.

@realeverywriter Well the movies seem to credit dinosaurs with fantastical strength. In reality I'd feel quite safe seeing a t-rex behind a suitably strong fence. The only reason I might not is because the lines would be too long.

@SoCal_Chemistry Yes, i'd say a lot of the images are creepy because they often look off in some way, twisted faces, extra limbs, etc. The thing is the a.i. though it's being taught, doesn't have the easy natural processing of healthy/right versus sick/wrong that we do as biological creatures.

@davidmcwriter I agree with those that say the middle. I can start 1000 books, I'm full of ideas. Finishing and editing I have no problem with. It's about 4-5 chapters in where I find the hump, where I find the rhythm or don't.

@king_reinhardt First, that's great 🙂 Second, I don't think it hurts to find people, but I know for me I do at least a couple edits first so I know I am having them read it the way I intend it to be.
