ESOP taxation for salaried employees is the worst. This needs a relook, prerequisite tax is calculated on unrealised gains , irrespective of whether an employee has sold shares in profit or not. An employee has to pay perquisite tax on diff between allotment price and market price. Tax is calculated at the highest bracket. Talk about fairness.
