Rand Paul gives Fauci one last chance to answer the question and stop breaking the law by invoking 5th Amendment rights that no longer apply because of his presidential pardon.
Fauci refuses.
A vote certifying his contempt is scheduled for next week. If it passes, he is referred to the Justice Department for criminal prosecution.
Contempt of Congress is punishable by up to a year in jail. Perjury carries up to five years.
Once you know that, it suddenly makes sense how Fauci acted this whole hearing. He would rather spend a year in jail than admit what he's done or perjure himself.
PAUL: "I'm going to give you one more opportunity to COMPLY WITH THE LAW... Did you destroy any federal record or tell anyone else to?"
FAUCI: "I respectfully decline to answer..."
PAUL: "Because you refuse to answer, citing a privilege (5th Amendment) that is SUPPORTED because of your pardon and after being denied to do so, this committee has scheduled a vote next week on a resolution certifying your contempt."
A reminder that Mel Gibson was so committed to authenticity that he chose to cast primarily indigenous people from Mexico’s Yucatán peninsula in the film Apocalypto, many whom had never acted before.
The entire film was also performed in Yucatec Maya language, adding remarkable level of realism.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari @BBhuttoZardari has finally said the quiet part out loud. Democracy, PPP-style, means: if people refuse to vote, slap them until they do.
In Muzaffarabad, the Oxford educated heir of the Bhutto dynasty ordered his workers to give “one or two thappads” to anyone still talking about a PTI boycott. Not debate them. Just slap them into line. Because nothing says “champion of democracy” quite like turning political disagreement into a public beating.
This is the same Bilawal who never stops lecturing the country about democratic values. The son of Benazir Bhutto , once sold as a symbol against dictatorship , is now casually instructing supporters to assault citizens for a political choice. The hypocrisy is almost impressive in its shamelessness.
What kind of leader gets this rattled by a boycott that he has to outsource violence? What kind of “progressive” party treats voters like livestock who need a couple of slaps to remember their place? This is pure feudal instinct: ordinary people exist to obey, and if they refuse, the solution is force.
The setting makes it worse. Kashmiris are still living with restrictions, unresolved grievances, and real pain. Yet Bilawal’s urgent priority is not addressing any of that , it is forcing people into a managed electoral exercise so his party can claim a “mandate.” When they refuse, the great democrat reaches for violence.
His raised voice gave the game away. The boycott is working. And instead of reflection, he reached for the oldest feudal tool available.
PTI stands with the people of Kashmir , not with those who think a couple of thappads will crush political resistance. We do not take lectures on democracy from a man who confuses it with domination.
The decision to boycott was already correct. Bilawal’s own words have turned it into an open and shut case.
Mayor Karachi @murtazawahab1 is turning promises into progress.
Following the announcement of the rehabilitation of 139 roads, he has now initiated planning for more flyovers, directing engineering teams to complete feasibility studies for new traffic-free corridors that will keep Karachi moving.
Was she also informed of the TMC and Parking mafia who have now creeped into the streets around Tariq Road and are harrasing ppl in the PECHS streets for parking fees ? How powerless is the office of the Mayor of Karachi.
