@dwightjaynes Here is an interesting book on this very subject. It discusses how the products are marketed to target audiences - and how rapidly the major sports industries got on board when they saw how much money could be made:
@Qb11Sd The 1994 Ducks changed the world of west coast football. Just ask Washington.
In the 32 years since, Oregon is 15-7 against SC, including the last 5 straight. The Robinson and McKay teams aren’t relevant any more. Army was good in the 40s and 50s too…
@cookinquack Tough break. But ucla had all kinds of talent and should have won that regional. They were likely a tad overconfident, played w fire and upsets happen. Sorry, that’s baseball and this team will be remembered as a good team who didn’t play its best when it mattered most.
@JYDuck87@JamesCrepea Everyone always blames a bad call.
The loss was caused by OSU issuing 4 walks in the 7th, and OSU hitters going 1-12 with runners on base.
This OSU team was good, not great, and their regional preformance proved the ncaa tourney selection committee right.
@Johill_13@chainsawcrew23 I can. They knew what OSU accomplished in baseball the last 20 years. They knew Whitney was hurt, and the ‘26 Beaver offense was not special.
They were fired up to host, and show they were better than OSU this year. And they did, and proved the committee was right. Go Ducks
@OregonBaseball We should add a new category to the game box score: how many times the Big 10+ broadcast freezes up.
I’m at about 7 so far thru 3 innings.
And this is content we pay for!
@socalsports1984@ChrisPetersenUW@WestCoastCFB Yeah right…. I hate to break this to you, but there’s a very good chance a lot more was going on. If the NCAA comes with sanctions, and the coach quits, and the agent sues…. SC had their hand in every biting it.
@socalsports1984@ChrisPetersenUW@WestCoastCFB And Pete Carroll bolted for the NFL before the sanctions came in for…… the cheating.
It’s all tainted. Everyone knows it.
And SC has been ordinary for nearly 20 years since, in spite of all the claims of greatness.
