Rent freezes and landlord controls arenโt empathy โ theyโre tools of property seizure. When government makes private rentals unviable, it can become the landlord, control your housing, and your life.
It's impossible to produce anything at a profit that the general consumer can still afford. The prices people can pay, don't match what things cost to produce. This is how economy's crumble.
Guess who called for advice on chicken prices in Canada?
Costco Canada.
At $7.99 for a rotisserie chicken, they're likely losing $2โ$4 per bird at current costs. Demand is so strong that many stores are selling out by noon.
"CANADA HAS NO PRODUCTIVITY GROWTH"
David Rosenberg says Canada's unit labour costs are rising around 8% annually, versus near 0% in the U.S.
His warning:
If nothing changes, the Canadian dollar may not stop at 1.50 USD/CAD... it could eventually head toward 1.60+.
This is why productivity matters.
Started tracking my expenses last year with Quiken Simplifi and my mind is blown...
Family of 4 with a stay at home wife/mom. We have 2 cars and a 4 bedroom house.
I need to net (after taxes) $200K per year just to cover living expenses.
Canada has lost the plot. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Creative, commercial, repositioning is the ultimate CRE strategy in Canada.
I purchased a church that was vacant for 6 years, for just land value.
Gutted it.
Renovated.
Repositioned as a daycare and had multiple offers $200K above what I paid for it in a few months.
@realEstateTrent I've had it both ways, city living and country living. Both are great in their own way. There's also something about waking up, making a coffee, and walking outside to the deck in absolute silence as the morning dew slowly lifts off the grass. That's the only time I feel peace.
@mario4thenorth He's fighting really hard to ensure he can suppress anyone who opposes him in the future. God forbid there were limits to Government overreach.
@SSP_Traffic@SouthSimcoePS This young man's parents probably wouldn't be happy knowing their son was hanging out the back of a 4Runnner doing 120km/h on Hwy 400 / Innisfil Beach rd this morning. Absolutely insane.
Trudeau one the next election, immodestly stopped enforcing transparency measures, and lifted all sanctions against communities that were defrauding the government.
Then they doubled down, increasing spending up to $32B in just 2024/25.
Where is the money? ๐ง
@elonmusk you think the Minnesota fraud is bad? Canada "spent" $300B (with a B) since 2015 on "Aboriginal Programs". More than national defence. But nobody knows where it actually went?

In fact, life expectancy has gone down, they don't have cleans drinking water, crime is off the charts, and the communities are worse today than 10 years ago.
@stephenharper our last conservative prime minister put a stop to this, by demanding transparency. But guess what?
