They’re quite happy to raise the Somali flag instead though.

This should be no surprise, as this sort of behavior is why the North African coast had to be conquered to begin with:

The vicious Barbary pirates were savages who delighted in taking white slaves, particularly white girls who they made their sex slaves, and for centuries Europe waged war against them as a result

Eventually, the Western Europeans, particularly the French and Spanish, whose coastlines were exposed to the predations of these savages, got tired of trying to get a partial grip on the problem and decided to solve it fully by invading and taking over the territory so they could govern it and eradicate the dens of criminality

They were successful for so long as colonization lasted
